Four New Gambling Licenses Awarded in KwaZulu-Natal Africa
The KwaZulu-Natal Gaming Board had recently awarded four gaming licenses to four gaming companies in Africa.
Each gaming companies received a permit to install one thousand gaming machines in KwaZulu-Natal.
The four gaming companies that got the gambling license are Gold Circle, Luck-at-It, Vukani Gaming and Kingdom Slots.
Gamblers Anonymous has criticized the move of the gambling board to give gambling licenses as it might increase the number of problem gamblers.
Ken Ladbrooke, KwaZulu-Natal Gaming Board acting CEO, said that the move to award gambling licenses is to regulate the gambling industry and to clear the provinces of unauthorized gambling machines.
Ladbrooke said that the gambling machines will be installed in areas with primary business like pubs, licensed betting sites, bars and sports club.
According to Ladbrooke, the four thousand machines would take time to set up as licensing for each gambling machine is complex and expensive.
A maximum of five gambling machines is will be allowed in each site.
Gamblers Anonymous however raised concerns that the machines would be installed in places where minors frequently visit such as restaurants.
The gaming board clarified that the sites for gambling machines that will be approved are the areas where minors are not allowed.
